10 saving tips when planning a vacation

by Leave a Comment

When you are planning to travel there are some tips you should know about if you want to save money. There are several things you can do to cut costs. Here is a list of 10 options that you have that will allow you to lower your vacation tab.

– Book Your Vacation During The Slow Season. One of the easiest ways to save big money when it comes to planning your vacation is to book your getaway during the slow season. Rates will be much lower because hotels like to keep as many of their vacancies booked as possible. During the slow season, fewer people are booking vacations so the hotels lower their price to try to attract visitors. You can save up to 50 percent on your rooms if you use this method.

– Use Discount Flight Sites. There are tons of websites out there that help you find the cheapest airfare for your travel needs. If you plan carefully and visit many of the sites you may just surprise yourself when it comes to savings.

– Take Advantage Of Cancellations. If you call a hotel or airline and ask if they have had any last minute cancellations, you just might get lucky and get a reduced cost on your flight.

– Instead Of Checked Baggage, Bring A Carry On. Bringing checked baggage with you on your vacation could end up costing you hundreds of dollars. Instead of packing a lot of luggage, you should instead bring pieces of clothing that you can mix and match and wash if necessary.

– Use Travel Codes And Coupons. Many sites offer great off-price deals. You can search for sites who offer voucher codes and discount codes such as Mamma UK and Expedia UK. This will help you save a significant amount of money on your travel expenses.

– Use Gas Reward Cards. If you are driving then it makes a big difference in your gas costs if you take advantage of special deals that gas reward cards give their customers.

– Split Travel Costs With Friends. If you don’t mind the company you can always bring along some friends that are willing to go on vacation as well. You can then split the costs for whatever expenses you might have along the way.

– Cook Meals Instead Of Eating Out. If you want to save some money on vacation you may want to rent a room with a kitchenette and cook a few meals instead of eating out. Even cooking a small breakfast instead of eating breakfast at a cafe will cut the expenses.

– Rent A Car. If you are venturing out frequently, you may save money if you rent a car rather than taking a taxi to all of the locations that you will travel to.

– Take Advantage Of Special Discounts. If you are a senior citizen, emergency personnel, or a VIP then you should take advantage of any discounts that are offered for those designations. Ask at the front desk of businesses that you visit when you arrive.

By taking advantage of these ideas you will have extra money to spend on gifts or simply saving for a rainy day. Saving money is always exciting and these tips are easy ways to avoid spending too much money on your vacation.
