How much your current salary is, is not public knowledge for anyone

When you are in an interview for a job it is natural to feel a little apprehensive, and at times even concerned that your application is not suitable for the needs of the employer, but this does not mean that you have to blindly provide all the information they are requesting! In the article on PBS News Hour the author of a book gives some valuable tips on how to handle the question regarding your current salary. Your salary is personal and confidential information, you are under no obligation to provide this information to anyone, especially not a prospective employer! Know where you want to be and your worth and negotiate with that instead of down selling yourself by giving your prospective employer a basis to begin negotiations at your current salary.
