Getting Fit In Manchester has Never Been This Easy

by Leave a Comment

People are getting more conscious about their health and fitness. They look for ways to increase their physical activities to keep fit. Although there are benefits to exercising alone, group fitness classes are more fun. You get additional support from group mates, improve your performance through friendly challenges, increase your social network, and make new friends.

These are the things that health conscious individuals in Manchester experience, with their easy access to fitness centres and group fitness activities. After all, the city is known for being energetic, full of character, diverse and youthful. Searching for new and fun ways to get fit in Manchester? Here are some of the top group fitness programs that are worth a try.

1. Aerial Yoga

A few yoga fitness centres in Manchester, such as the Yoga Lounge, Kama Fitness, Flying Fantastic and others offer aerial yoga, a fun but still challenging way to do yoga poses while suspended on air with the help of silk slings. Aerial yoga improves joint mobility, increases muscular flexibility and helps realign the spine. It is also a form of low impact cardiovascular conditioning. The core muscles are targeted by this fitness routine.

Because you are suspended on slings, you are able to fully extend your posture and lengthen your spine. The exercise is gentle on your joints, as well. Generally, aerial yoga strengthens your entire body, helps detox your organs, improves lymphatic drainage, reduces swelling and improves circulation. Gather your friends and enjoy the many health benefits of aerial yoga.

2. Les Mills HIIT

HIIT and cross training remain favorite group fitness programs wherever you go. You’ll find great satisfaction in the programs created by Les Mills. You have several choices of Les Mills exercise classes around Manchester, that are suited for your fitness level and target muscle groups. The wonderful thing about the fitness programs is that they are set to hit funky and thumping music that increases your motivation to keep to the beat. You’ll enjoy support and great camaraderie from experienced instructors and fellow training mates. You all know the benefits you gain from different HIIT workouts such as Sprint, a 30-minute cycle workout. To improve your strength and build lean muscles, there’s Grit and Grit Plyo. For cardiovascular fitness, go for Grit Cardio.

For cross training, try the BodyVive 3.1, which is a mix of core, cardio and strength training. Feel those unwanted calories fade away as you go through a series of tubing and running, as well as squats and lunges.

3. Animal Movement

If you watch active children play, you’ll see some of them simulate animal movements. Now it has been elevated to a fitness program for adults. The fitness class, such as the one offered by The Wonder Inn, allows you to move in various ways that you may have thought impossible to do. The floor and some blocks are what you use and with some of the moves, you be suspended by a silky hammock. The program helps improve your nerve, strength, flexibility and core muscles. It’s like a combination of Pilates and yoga at a more primal level. Animal movement or animal flow is a kinetic exercise that helps keep your entire body flexible, improve your balance and your endurance. It engages all planes of movement — transverse, side to side and up and down).

4. (Ballet) Barre

If you want overall conditioning exercise that targets your glutes, thighs, hips, arms and abs, barre is a good one for you. It’s perfect for people who want to remain flexible and get their body toned. It’s also good for people who suffer from back pain periodically. Attending a barre class is like attending a ballet class, as you will perform the workout using a ballet barre. However, there are instances when you also have to use hand weights, resistance bands and small balls when you perform floor work. Barre is a low impact routine that mixes core and balance conditioning, flexibility, strength training and cardio. The pace is slower and you might not get sweaty at all, but you will feel the effect long after you’ve finish the class. You can find a local Barre class on BarreCore.
