Cardmembers could earn up to £443 cashback on average annual household expenditure

To kick start the year and give an extra boost to those who are refreshing their finances, American Express is offering new American Express Platinum Cashback Credit Cardmembers a welcome bonus of £25, which covers the first year annual fee.
The offer is available for those who apply by 16 March 2014 and is in addition to the 5 per cent introductory cashback rate received in the first three months (maximum £125 cashback) and the 1.25 per cent rate thereafter on every full pound spent.
American Express research, conducted by the Centre for Economics and Business Research reveals that on average households spend nearly £28,000 a year on everyday items such as food, travel, clothing and leisure. Putting this spend on an American Express Platinum Cashback Credit Card could earn Cardmembers £443 a year in cashback.* This increases to £468 when the current bonus offer is included.

Existing Cardmembers do not miss out either as they have the opportunity to earn £25 bonus cashback for up to five approved friends they refer within a 12 month period. Their friend will earn £25 bonus cashback as soon as they use their Card, as well as the £25 introductory bonus offer currently being offered.**
