Have you noticed how your shopping style has changed over recent years?  Perhaps it hasn’t changed at all, but according to studies conducted by Barclaycard and Brunel University the nation has changed their shopping strategy over the last five years.

In years gone by shoppers were loyal to brands and stores, these days all shoppers fall into one of four groups, and these groups are not limited to local or internet shoppers, the same techniques and traits are clearly visible across all shopping avenues.

The four groups are:

  • The Bargain Hunter Gatherer
  • The Profit Prophet
  • The Screen Saver
  • The High Street Pounder

Knowing what type of shopper you are has its benefits, like being able to change if you don’t really like the results, or realizing the most efficient way to maximize your shopping experience whether it is online or in the local store. According to the quiz, I’m a ‘Screen Saver’, which is pretty apt as I am a bit of a geek and spend a lot of time online!

Barclaycard has realized that every type of shopper has a collection of loyalty cards, and the rewards on the cards are not used on frivolous treats or special items, but rather on making your household income stretch further from one pay day to the next.

With this in mind Barclaycard has created a new card called the Freedom Rewards card which offers you double points on all purchases at petrol stations and supermarkets as well as an online shop where you can purchase items at discounted prices from popular brands.

To find out what type of shopper you, take the Barclay Shopper Tribe quiz!  Then enter the competition by commenting your shopping style, one of the four listed above, in the comments area below and you could win a £60 Amazon voucher!

To maximize your shopping style and earn even more rewards, why not read about the Freedom Rewards card and send off your application form today so that you can get your card and start making your money go even further each week as quickly as possible.

Good Luck to everyone, we are sure that there is something you can find to spoil yourself with at Amazon this Christmas, just take the quiz and enter the competition to find out!

I used to be what you call a ‘High Street Pounder’, sampling the goods in my local high street. Now the internet has broadened my shopping horizons. The high street provides loss leaders & general household products, almost everything else is bought online.
There’s less prejudice towards shoppers online too. Go out in some ‘scruffs’ for a day trip shopping & another time in your smart attire, feel the attitude totally alter towards your presence & the helpfulness of staff escalate from getting you followed & out safe to shown around & helped accordingly.

Its seems like im a “screen saver” which is spot on, I hate crowds or slow walking around shops because people are in my way. Buying online all the way.
