Retirement ‘norms’ change with baby boomers

by Leave a Comment

In years gone by retirement was about taking it easy in a retirement village and joining in on the daily activities or having mini socials with friends in the same area of the retirement village.

Baby Boomers change retirement
Baby Boomers change retirement

The baby boomers generation is quickly changing the way people look at retirement as advances in medical science and technology have allowed them to be healthy enough to take on new adventures as well as pro-longing their lifespan by about 20 years.

More than half of the baby boomers in America have computers and social media accounts as a means to keep in touch with family and friends, this has opened up a range of options for retired persons to still make money and do things that they have always dreamed of.

Today, retired people are no longer interested in the bingo game in the main hall at the retirement village when they could be sitting on their computers mapping out inventions or playing games with their grandchildren.

The way people retire as well as their financial stability has changed drastically over the last 10 years.
