With the current situation where most families are battling to make ends meet the idea of having a vacation has been discarded as unaffordable by a lot of families.  The good news is that even if you are on a tight budget you can still have a vacation this summer.

Here are some tips on how to have an enjoyable vacation without breaking your budget or putting yourself further into debt.

Time Frame – A lot of people want to go on holiday for a week or more, instead of spending all your holiday time away from home and regretting the amount of money spent afterwards, plan to have a 3 day holiday.

Location – Although the popular holiday destinations are full of activity, desirable weather and everything you could hope for, there are smaller areas or destinations which are not as popular and offer exactly the same things, so choose to go to the less popular destinations as the charges for your holiday will work out cheaper.

Transportation – When you think of going on holiday, look for locations that you can get to without having to spend large sums of money on transportation.  A lot of places are little treasure spots and they not that far away from home.

Food – If you going to be staying in a hotel or guest house look for one that includes a breakfast in the room cost.  Planning to eat out for all the meals of each day adds up quickly.  If you book into a guest house where they serve a buffet breakfast you can take your time and eat the full breakfast, which is normally a three course meal, then you only need to worry about supper!

Share – There are many self-catering establishments which can sleep a lot of people, so team up with your best friends and share the costs of the holiday.

Types of accommodation – Apart from the guest houses that offer breakfasts, consider a self-catering establishment.  Many moms look at self-catering as a burden because they will still be responsible for preparing food and cleaning up the place so their work will not stop, but you can plan a menu which is easy to prepare and delegate the chores to your children with the incentive that they perform their duties diligently you will reward them with an excursion.

Another great way to get out of the city, have a break from the repetition of life and rejuvenate yourself is to go on a camping trip!  There are many ways to have a holiday without having to resort to credit cards or further debts, if you have any great ways then share them with the other readers.
