Exorbitant healthcare costs in America

by Leave a Comment

Americans are renowned for doing things rather over the top than other countries, they also known to have great facilities where you can get exceptional care, but this is not entirely true.  Americans started the trend for health care facilities where procedures can be performed out of hospital, a cheaper alternative for smaller procedures and even these facilities are now taking advantage of the apparent ignorance of American citizens.  America has the highest amount of spending in the medical sector across the globe, so Americans spend the most for medical care on an annual basis than any other country in the world.

This would make most people think that there are a lot of ill people in America, and because of the high rate of obesity in America it does seem to be a valid argument.  Unfortunately for American citizens the truth is that the high rate of medical expenditure is NOT because of the over all health of the population, but because of the exorbitant costs that patients are being forced to pay for simple procedures!  The article on The New York Times gives full details of the difference in costs for procedures to detect and prevent cancer as well as some other small procedures and how American citizens are being charged triple or more than other countries.
