A survey conducted by the British Retail Consortium shows that although cash is still the most preferred method of payment it has declined by 10% compared to last year. People have realized that using other methods of payment such as debit cards, which do not run the risk of landing you in debt, and PayPal are more secure than having cold hard cash on hand. Retailers are also making it easier for shoppers to use various payment methods which ensure that they keep their current clientele. The article on The Guardian gives details of how much the alternative methods of payment have increased over the last year as well as the decrease in the usage of cash, an interesting read for sure.
