Summer is a fun time, apart from having to attend to daily tasks like work and keeping your home running, it is also the time of year where you spend more time out side, whether it be having relaxing BBQ with friends or family or watching children partake in sports or partaking in a variety of outdoor activities yourself, you are outside enjoying the summer sun and spending time with people you know and care about. Unfortunately with summer comes a whole range of insects and creatures that hibernate or immigrate for the winter months, including ticks and fleas. Ticks are dangerous insects that DO bite humans, and their bites can be fatal, especially if they are not diagnosed in time or treated correctly.
The drugs that doctors prescribe for Lyme disease have been in short supply for a while and now that summer is on the doorstep, the price for the drug has sky rocketed. The problem is that if you happen to get bitten by a tick you do risk contracting Lyme disease which is highly contagious, and now you can add to that concern that you might not be able to obtain the drug to cure it and if you are able to obtain the drug you going to be paying up to five times its regular price. The article on Wired does advise that it is best to take precautions and ensure that you do not get bitten at all.
